Film on Friday: July |
This week I have some rushed rolls, I shot in a hurry as I finally bought chemicals and was ready to try and develop my own film. The 1st roll was a disaster, I did not load it properly. I was using a Jobo reel, which I now know the best way to load (NOT how I was doing it the the 1st try- should have followed and instructions and tried a practise load). The 2nd roll was more successful. Next try I will pay a bit more attention to what Im shooting lol.
Film 1: Disaster lol

Film 2, I did a slightly better job getting it on the reel:

Bloom Project 52 | Week 25/52 | ‘Handsome’ |
I’t's week 25 of my Project 52 with the wonderful ladies from the Bloom forum.This weeks theme is ‘handsome’ and it see’s me journeying back to film for the foreseeable future after dropping my digital and now not having a functioning focusing system
. As a result this weekend was a rush to get a film developed and to get anything I could listed on ebay to raise funds for a new body (shame my main $ item had a ‘buy it now’ customer not within the parameters of the sale so i need to re-list grrrrr).
The following shots are my handsome little man before nursery rhyme day at school this week.
Kodak Portra 400
And an attempt to use my brocken digital
with the now required manual focus and a heap of haze……
Next up visit a photographer I have admired for a long time, the wonderful Alison Crane, Bay Area Photographer.

10 on 10|April |
I’m participating in a 10 on 10 project with a wonderful group of ladies from over on the Bloom forum. On the 10th of every month (or round about) we will be posting a set of 10 images of a day in our month.
At the moment I am trying to challenge myself to complete the month on a roll of 120, so 16 shots. This month I’ve shot with Kodak Portra.
1. Everyone starts the day by piling into my bed; & 2. Some chill out time watching cartoons;
3. Some time playing in the drive in the sun; & 4. The 1st chance to play with my close up filters, I certainly will need to practice to get these right;
5. Cassidy in a moment of calmness; & 6. Lunch time and I finally convinced Cal to put a top on;
7. Afternoon and I convinced the boys to take a walk;
8. Started to wish I had my digital with me along with my film as I tried to capture the spray on the waves hitting the shore in the distance; & 9. Tears of frustration from my little man as I refused to look in every hole we went past (in my defense we were in a bird rookery surrounded by 1000′s of burrows;
10. And finally, I foolishly ran out of film before the sun had provided its best colours and right before a huge pod of dolphins appeared before us. Maybe next time
.

At the moment I am trying to challenge myself to complete the month on a roll of 120, so 16 shots. This month I’ve shot with Kodak Portra 400.
This month starts with my beautiful flowering gum (which has finally flowered) then takes viewers along with an activity that I took the boys along to at Phillip Island Nature Park. The activity is called Rabbit Busters and the kids get to see the ferrets in action searching for rabbits which are vermin in this country. Unfortunately a lot of the action is underground lol. The little dog is Jack, who has also worked hard at the park when it comes to rabbit control, though is now an old man. We finish off with bath time and more of my flowering gum (did I say I was excited it was flowering

Bloom Project 52 | Week 9/52 | ‘Distressed’ |
Have you heard of the Bloom forum? If not follow my link to check it out. I am part of a Project 52 with some wonderful ladies who met over on the forum.
This week the theme is ‘Distressed’ and I’m not shy of stretching a theme to suit myself lol. So on Sunday night (or was it Monday, scratches head) we headed off for an evening walk, sunshine to the north and angry black clouds to the south. The sky was clearly in distress!

Bloom Project 52 | Week 6/52 | ‘Grounded’ |
I am part of a Project 52 with some wonderful ladies who met over in the Bloom forum. This week the theme is ‘Grounded’. My first thoughts for this week were earth between the toes sort of thing, but when I stopped to think about what made me feel grounded I knew what my shot had to be. The images below are from just a short walk up the road, when I go without this scene for too long I find myself out of sorts and unhappy, its like a long exhalation that brings me back to earth and allows me to move forward…..
